1. Lost Customer Strategy: We target clients who have 'disappeared' for one reason or another, and we do this at least once or twice per year. What we do is find customers who have stopped coming to our salon in our data base and send a very unique, oversized postcard that has a lot of personality. It say's "Here's $xx.xx For Your Safe Return" , and some supporting ad copy and images that clients enjoy. This is perhaps, our best marketing strategy.

2. Thank You Marketing System: How often do you get a thank you card or letter from the dozens of small businesses and wholesalers you use? I bet hardly any, particularly in the retail sector. But it's one of the smartest and most under rated marketing techniques. We send a thank you card or a thank you letter to each new client, depending on what they purchased, along with an offer that is really hard to resist. Clients like this technique as well, and from time to time customers will 'thank us' for 'thanking them'. And we follow up with a second postcard. You should do the same.

Our 'Thank You' salon marketing strategy is our second best marketing technique. 

3. Survey Marketing Technique: Once per year we send out a direct mail survey letter. But it's not just any old survey. It's a survey with a cover letter that asks customers to tell us what we are doing right and wrong so we know what to improve upon, and what products or services clients might consider purchasing in the future. It also gets us more new testimonials. And on top of all the we get a little bump in our sales all because of the incentive to fill out the survey.

4. Testimonial Marketing Technique: This is one of my favorite salon marketing strategies because we get quality testimonials from clients (along with their picture), and from these pictures and testimonials we create effective salon coupons and advertisements.

What we do is send a select group of clients a letter that's asks them to submit their testimonial, along with their picture. In return they will get a nice gift. In addition, the person who writes the best testimonial gets a prize. And we also choose second and third places as well.
